about me.
Hi, welcome to modern sequins. A little blog dedicated to 2 of my obsessions, modern design and a closet full of sequins. Enjoy. xo, Myka

I've already worn pants twice this week people, twice!  That's major for a girl that rarely wears pants (dresses, skirts, and leggings under tunics are my jam).  Therefore I've been majorly crushing on girls who can rock a good slouchy pant.  I will definitely be attempting to recreate these looks.  Oh and those sequin slouchy pants, you had me at hello!

a birthday celebration.

I am so so so excited to be sharing this fun and girly celebration I put together.  The girls at Alison Events asked me to create a post about styling a tabletop.  So head on over there today to see my version of throwing a friend the perfect little birthday party.  And check back here tomorrow, as I'll be sharing how I made that tablecloth.  Enjoy!

beanie love.

The other day as I was heading out the door, I gave myself one last glance in the mirror and decided that my hair wasn't quite cooperating.  I had little time to do any major fixes, so I popped on a beanie and I have to admit, I really liked the final look.  Nothing like a hat to fix a bad hair day.  Oh and a swipe of red lipstick always brightens my mood.  Happy Friday everyone!

Thanks everyone for the love on Glitter Guide yesterday.  I had so much fun working on that little style session.  My favorite part was being able to pick a pretty laid back piece, a chambray shirt, and pair it with more fancy pieces, like that sequin skirt.  In my everyday style I definitely tend to gravitate towards more "dressy" pieces that might seem out of place during the day, so I'm always hunting for something that will bring it down to earth and make it a little more appropriate for the daytime hours.  I've got to say that the below image of Jenna Lyons at the 2011 Met Gala totally embodies that styling that I covet.  I love love love that she took a floor length feathered skirt and paired it with a comfy sweater.  It looks stunning!

style session.

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had an amazing weekend.  We had such a blast celebrating G's birthday (more on that to come), and then I woke up this morning to see my styling session on Glitter Guide!  YAY!  Check out how I styled a chambray shirt two ways.  Oh and by the way, I bought that chambray shirt at Target for $20 and literally wear it all of the time!  I love a good bargain (similar shirt).  And a special thanks to Caroline (and Donna) for capturing these photos and creating such a fun day!
